On March 27, 2024 a project permit was issued to Metro Vancouver to install a no anchor sign approximately 500 metres downstream of the Port Mann Bridge, on the south shore of the Fraser River in Surrey, BC. The project is in federal waters managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

The project was approved subject to 34 permit conditions applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects. Please see the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry for the Notice of Intent and Notice of Decision.

About the project
The sign is required to notify marine users of a no anchor zone near the Metro Vancouver Port Mann Water Main crossing No. 2. The sign would be an approximately 1.8-metre-wide aluminum panel and would attach to two 324-millimetre diameter steel piles. Piles would be driven to an approximate depth of 10 metres.

Works will be completed with a marine spud derrick equipped with a vibratory hammer or from the upland.
